One down, one more to go...

I wrote the Vocabulary test today. It was not as bad as I thought it could be - just some colours-related idioms, a bit of French-origin words, explaining the difference between 'prophecy' and 'prophesy' (pet peeves of mine ;), 'historic' and 'historical'. The only truly difficult part was marking the stress in hyphenated words (arch-enemy and the like). I am almost sure I failed that part.
And almost sure I did most of the others correctly.
I entered the classroom last (I never gather my things quickly, for some reason) and most of the people were already seated. As I was looking around for a free place that would be far enough from the other students to prevent any possibility of them cheating from me, the professor showed me a place at a far end of the room, where usually the teacher sits (and possible cheaters are seated). He joked, "a place for the exceptionally gifted", which really had me giggling. He is so nice you can almost forget he is the one who did not let a girl re-sit her failed test the second time. She had to leave the University before any exams. That's unheard of.
Yet, the part of me that loves to be recognised is wondering if his joke was at least part meant seriously - I mean, I knew what a jailbait is and he did not - and he's the native speaker here...
/pathetic
Tomorrow I am writing a Latin test (another one...) so crossed fingers will be appreciated :) Latin tests are scary. And difficult. And I need a 5 because I want to be excused from the exam.
Tomorrow I will also be posting a speshul post :) I can't wait, really.

I think that it's a lot easier for us Poles, though, because our nouns also have that many forms and translate almost automatically.

Date: 2006-04-06 07:41 pm (UTC)Ekhem, but I must learn, in next year I've got Matura Exam, and so one.
Latin - God, it's horrible and quite hard, but I love it anyway. What test do you have precisely? (I suposse, I do in this sentence several mistakes XD)I mean - translate, grammar or what?

Date: 2006-04-06 08:37 pm (UTC)No comma - this is a defining clause (to, co następuje po which jest konieczne dla zachowania logiki, sensu zdania). Poza tym which nie jest konieczne, ale chyba nie jest błędem.
Problem jest countable, więc musisz użyć article (a)
innext. so onesupose with one 's' only
mistake łączy się z 'make'. Szyk powinien być 'I supose I make several mistakes in this sentence'.
And my test is in everything ;-) Deklinacje, koniugacje, słownictwo, tłumaczenie, co tam się da. Błe.
You should just practise more :) And reading different things helps a lot.

Date: 2006-04-06 10:14 pm (UTC)Please help me, I dunno what's happening, I'm listening to NIN and failing miserably at talking writing commenting anything. :/
So anyhow, I wish you luck with Latin (I just hope my 5 will prevent me from having anything to do with Latin at the Uni. I guess I know enough if I can read some of the gothic scriptures on tombs and paintings, oh, and know some Seneca and Cicero too.)
Also, my Granddad was taken to the hospital. Heart problems.

Date: 2006-04-06 10:54 pm (UTC)I am so sorry. I don't know what to say not to sound silly - just take care of yourself, will you? My thoughts and prayers will be with you.
Yes, a 5 would do that for you ;) I never had anything to do with Latin before Uni.
::hugs some more::
