My proseminar is awesome :D

Today we discussed models of masculinity and femininity in American Beauty. Apart from (and possibly partly due to) the fact that I pretty much disagreed with a lot of what my peers said, I enjoyed it.

But the actual good news is: the lecturer did not set the upper limit of words for the paper we're supposed to write for her proseminar. And this one time I plan to be ruthless, because this pretty much sets it - I will write about Wesley Wyndam-Pryce.

I hate American Beauty the same way and for the same reasons I hate the work of Norman Mailer and Jack Kerouac. It's all about elevating self-centered penis worship to a form of mysticism. *yawn* The psycho neighbor dad was almost right about what was going on at least in that it was all about the glorification of the phallus.

And as always, I agree with you. I enjoyed discussing it precisely because I did not find it deep, meaningful or worthy of my admiration. It was well done. It was also something I couldn't agree with at all.
