A good title can make or break a fanfic. List (at least) five recent fanfics you've written. For each one, explain how you came up with the title and what it means.

(I listed the ones in English first and the ones in Polish later. Explanations are provided in the language of the story.) I tried to be spoiler-free.




Hang Up the Chick Habit - obviously refers to the April March song. It's basically about Spike's bad habits when it come to women (and slayers in particular). Addiction is a minor theme. Also, I love the song and I think the title sounds cool.

Slayers Don't Pay for Drinks (In Cleveland) - now this is clearly a case of me finding a phrase I love and just going with it - a thing I really love about this story is the 'verse I created. Wishverse with Faith as the Slayer in Cleveland, being the queen of the city. Just what she always wanted, in a way. The title is very literal - but also points to an aspect of the story I wanted to highlight.

Close and Closure (Semantics) - Buffy/Bones crossover (femmeslash) was colder and more detached than I planned it to, and the title refers to this. The female characters oscillate between looking for closeness, and closure, and lying to themselves about what they want. Of course "semantics" can be seen as both straightforward (does it matter what they look for or is what they find the important part?) and ironic - the characters don't really know themselves (and each other) and what their actions mean.

Ziarna - proste jak drut - te różniące się klimatem drabble łączy to, że każde z nich wydarza się na czymś, co może być rozdrożem. Początkiem. Nie wiemy, gdzie bohaterowie pójdą dalej. Może coś z tego spotkania wyniknie, a może nic.

Trapez - ten tytuł jest dwuznaczny. Z jednej strony chodzi o "circus girl" z piosenki, którą dałam za motto (nie bez znaczenia "mother" - związek z matką jest ważny w tym fiku) - a z drugiej o czworokąt (Faith ładuje się w dziwne związki, prawda?) o nieregularnych bokach, z których dwa są zawsze równoległe - czyli nie ma takiego punktu w przestrzeni, w którym by się przecięły. Przynajmniej nie w geometrii, która obowiązuje w szkołach podstawowych, podobno wyższa geometria nie jest już taka zdecydowana w tej sprawie. A jakbym była czepliwa, to dodałabym, że "trapez" kojarzy mi się troszkę z "trap" - pułapką.
