1) Favourite album of the year:

Ys by Joanna Newsom. Without a doubt.

2) Favourite song of the year:

Outside of Ys? Um... perhaps "Set the Fire to the Third Bar"? Judging by my statistics at last.fm...

3) Favourite new TV series:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer! but since it's not broadcast anymore, how about Bones? But since that is in its third season, my favourite new TV series would probably be Gossip Girl. ::hangs head in shame::

4) Favourite book of the year - yet again, a dilemma.

- Stephen King's Dark Tower series,
- A.S. Byatt's Angels and Insects,
- Toby Litt's Adventures in Capitalism
- Margaret Atwood's Robber Bride

Special prize goes to A Passage to India, favourite among compulsory reads.

Is there anywhere I can see the whole list of album released last year? I listen to so much music it's almost impossible to remember the release dates.

It's probably on wiki... Ys was of course released 2006, but I first heard it in 2007, unless I'm mistaken...

This is not really that hard as I thought when it comes to music. My pick: The Arcade Fire Neon Bible. I'm unable to choose The song of the year, though.

As for the TV shows, I'd second Bones. House M.D. and Battlestar Galactica were also last year discoveries, if I recall correctly.

Books are a different story. There were so many I enjoyed and, shamefully, I don't keep record of what I have read and when.

For me, 2007 was a year of India. The richness of Indian culture, especially the cinema and music, was an important addition to my range of useless interests.

I stopped keeping track, but intend to do it again this year, because I forget far too easily...
