Hmm... So the news on the TV just informed the first case of bird flu was found in Poland. Two dead swans were diagnosed with H5 (they do not know if it's N1 yet). And where were they found? Obviously in my Uni!Town, in the centre, perhaps a mile away.

They closed parts of the town from entering.

Close to my University.

But not the University :( I could use a couple of free days :D

You think I ought to be more serious? Hmm, possibly... Perhaps I am too sleepy yet.

Off to have a cappuccino.

We've probably had avian flu in Poland for some time already.
But you're right. It's like: *yawn*. The media just feed the panic, don't they?

Yeah, just my luck to be near the first diagnosed case.

Yawn :)

I still keep my fingers crossed in hope the Uni will be closed, after all :)

The bird flu has already hit close to home here, too - the first diagnosed case in my Bundesland wasn't very far away from where I grew up. I'm still not sure how to react. I don't feel like panicking (yet?). After all, I didn't eat raw chicken before and I'm certainly not going to start now. I'm worried about the spreading of the disease to cats, though. People are talking about a permit to shoot every cat seen more than 200 metres away from a house. Not cool.

Yes, that is certainly way uncool. Thankfully, no one mentioned shooting here, yet.

My flatmate used to eat raw chicken (I mean, when she would be frying a chicken breast, she'd cut off a little raw bit and eat it - ewww ;), I think she'll rethink that ;)

I don't think I am going to feel like panicking until it starts like, jumping from human to human and kill in dozens ;)

Eating raw chicken. That's just...ew. The whole bird flu thing aside, it's not healthy. Not to mention slimy and disgusting.

Exactly what I think. If there's a human infection next door I'll probably do a Michael Jackson :)

It is, is it not? And oscars tonight... *I think I am going to have a sleepless night and be totally dead tomorrow in my classes*

*yawn* Unfortunately I can't pull that off. I'd totally do it if I had ordinary courses tomorrow. But as I already had Friday off I don't exactly want to make the nice people at work witness me falling asleep at my desk...

I really ought to be nice and aware of the surroundings tomorrow, but I am willing to give it a shot. I know I can function without sleep for about 36 hours, if I am not short on it beforehand and I did sleep long today ;)

The worst that can happen is me falling asleep mid-oscars, after all.

So, did you manage to stay awake? I was lame and read about the winners on the internet this morning.

Lack of sleep turns me into a brainless zombie ("Braaaaaaaaiiiiiiins..."). I can probably count the times I stayed up all night on my two hands. Less than seven hours a night and I just can't function. What a fortunate conincidence that I lead this boring lifestyle and rarely go out partying. Anything else would probably kill me dead.

And I thought I was just evil and laughing at the tragic death of two poor, poor swans!

RIP, dear swans.

And the cappuccino was good :)
