Finally found out something about MOST. Possibly a useful something at that ;]

Have done NOTHING to prepare for Strategies. I'm too busy, yo? But will have to get down to that ASAP. Don't wanna, who cares. Get over it is my motto for the month. Possibly year(s). So true.

Jane Eyre? 24/38, and enjoying it quite. Rochester is a manipulative bastard that should stop doing voice-overs out loud and Jane is a conceited little wild creature that should go see the wizard ask for some reason (how can she NOT understand that she's being manipulated? Geez!) but I find that interesting. I think I'm liking the novel better this time, too.

Next up it's Hardy's Tess. This better be good ;)

I feel like I don't have a life outside academia right now. Please be stopped kthnxbye? At least at the weekend I'm going out for pizza and 21 grams. If I live to the weekend, that is...

Also - will meet my New Student today. Wish me a conscientous little girl with a gift for languages, please? ;)

Headaches seem to have come together with that awful virus that I thought I had got rid of but which apparently is back (with vengeance). I don't even feel like grocery shopping, and grocery shopping is one of those Pleasures of Simple Life!

Regardless to say, I don't feel like Getting My Reading Done, or Cleaning the Room or Doing Laundry. Good thing today is Saturday.

Bad thing, a girl from my year just called OMG help me with my descriptive grammar. I would be happy to help her if not for the fact that I dislike her. And need to work on being assertive.

And on my Learning Strategies assignment.

Why is the weekend so short?

... but when that wasp in my ear woke me today, I really couldn't think of one. (yeah, well, now I can ;)

So my first five minutes of Free Friday were spent attempting to kill the nasty animal. And I tell you, I am afraid of stinging insects. And on top of it, I have windows made of thin glass in here, so I couldn't even try to kill it against the window, lest I have no more window. A pleasure. I almost had a heart attack when I missed it and it flew straight at me.

Still, a day began with me killing a living ceature. Oughtn't I feel pleasantly overlordish? ::headdesk::

I received 83% in my last grammar test. It's my worst result in grammar so far :(

On the more pleasant part - three day weekend has just begun. I intend to spend today at home, reading Pride and Prejudice, our compulsory reading, reading some nice fanfiction possibly, learning Latin and maybe watch some nice films. I still have this Gone with the Wind DVD :)

And, as it's Friday, my unofficial recommendation day, I shall do exactly that, recommend.

Official summary - Snape must remember himself before he becomes a pawn in another kind of war )

Official summary - Harry never expected the peace to last forever. Dumbledore taught him better than that. He just didn't expect the next war to begin less than a month after Voldemort died. Never would he have dreamed that it would be a man's personal war against a system. The wizarding world was that system, and Harry was that man. )

This said - weekend. Yay!

While I was at home I went to the library to return a book I was already late with. I saw Guy Gavriel Kay's Tigana on the shelf and, knowing my Mum hadn't yet read it, borrowed it and left with her when I returned to Uni!Town.

This morning, Mum called me to praise me for finding out about an opportunity to receive additional 'scholarship' money in June and to tell me: )

Apart from that, I did my presentation for Conversations (Vocabulary class) and received a 4. It's not terrific, however I was the first student to be asked and the Teacher did give me a truly glowing praise - he said my pronunciation was pleasant, my grammar immaculate (OMG!!!11!!), my vocabulary advanced (he praised my adverb usage!) - and he also likes Tori Amos, about whom I spoke. Still, apparently my hesitations are still Polish (dammit, I thought I was getting better at that) and my intonation was too flat (I think that was the stress factor).

He said he did not hear one article out of place or tense misused (and he said I used many of them, naturally, without hesitation).

I feel light-headed right now :D

By the way, I've just heard Shakira's new song "My Hips Don't Lie" and am in love with the title. Such a rotfl thing, really.

I wrote the Vocabulary test today. It was not as bad as I thought it could be - just some colours-related idioms, a bit of French-origin words, explaining the difference between 'prophecy' and 'prophesy' (pet peeves of mine ;), 'historic' and 'historical'. The only truly difficult part was marking the stress in hyphenated words (arch-enemy and the like). I am almost sure I failed that part.

And almost sure I did most of the others correctly.

I entered the classroom last (I never gather my things quickly, for some reason) and most of the people were already seated. As I was looking around for a free place that would be far enough from the other students to prevent any possibility of them cheating from me, the professor showed me a place at a far end of the room, where usually the teacher sits (and possible cheaters are seated). He joked, "a place for the exceptionally gifted", which really had me giggling. He is so nice you can almost forget he is the one who did not let a girl re-sit her failed test the second time. She had to leave the University before any exams. That's unheard of.

Yet, the part of me that loves to be recognised is wondering if his joke was at least part meant seriously - I mean, I knew what a jailbait is and he did not - and he's the native speaker here...

/pathetic

Tomorrow I am writing a Latin test (another one...) so crossed fingers will be appreciated :) Latin tests are scary. And difficult. And I need a 5 because I want to be excused from the exam.

Tomorrow I will also be posting a speshul post :) I can't wait, really.

Here to boast again - I have finished the first semester, today received my last grade and I am very much pleased with my final results - I have 5's in all courses except for phonetics and German - 4+.

I think I deserve a treat.

Maybe I will eat out sometime next week, to celebrate :)

And it seems I have earned the position of the teacher's pet in at least one class. No one knows the answer? I am going to be asked. I am shamelessly glad.

And it definitely calls for black nail polish and some really tasty dinner today. Maybe I shall fry some chips.
